Why Use a Three-Wire Grounded Cord?

Commercial vacuum cleaners that are designed with a grounded electrical system require a three-wire power cord. The third conductor provides the equipment grounding connection and should not be eliminated or replaced with an incorrect two-wire cord.

If your commercial vacuum was originally designed to use a grounded three-prong power cord, the replacement cord should maintain the proper grounding system.

If a commercial vacuum has intermittent power or no power, the cord should be inspected and electrically tested as part of the diagnosis.
