Genuine Miele 7698161 SES117 Electric Hose for S6000 / S6 & Compact C2 Va
Replace a damaged or failed electric hose with the Genuine Miele 7698161 SES117 Electric Suction Hose. The SES117 is designed for compatible Miele S6 / S6000 Series and Compact C2 canister vacuum cleaners equipped for use with an electric powerhead.
Unlike a standard suction-only vacuum hose, the SES117 carries both suction airflow and electrical power through the cleaning system. This allows a compatible Miele electric telescopic wand and SEB powerhead to operate while vacuuming.
The ergonomic hose handle also includes a convenient powerhead On/Off switch, allowing the user to turn the electric brush roll off at the handle when needed.

Electric Hose for Miele S6000 / S6 Vacuums
The SES117 was used with Miele's S6 / S6000 canister platform to provide the electrical connection necessary for operating a motor-driven carpet powerhead.
Miele specifies the SES117 electric suction hose and SET 220 electric telescopic wand for compatible S6000 machines using an electric powerbrush.
The SES117 can be used with compatible Miele SEB electric powerheads, including applicable versions of:
- Miele SEB 217-3 Electrobrush
- Miele SEB 228 Electro Plus Floorhead
- Miele SEB 236 Electro Premium Floorhead
Also Used on Compatible Compact C2 Models
The SES117 electric hose was also used with compatible Miele Compact C2 canister vacuums equipped for an electric powerhead.
Not every S6000 or Compact C2 vacuum uses an electric hose. Some models were originally configured as pure-suction or turbo-brush machines and may use a different hose.
Please verify your original hose, vacuum model, electrical connections, and powerhead configuration before ordering.
Powerhead On/Off Switch in the Handle
The SES117 features an electrical switch conveniently located in the hose handle. This switch allows the operator to turn the electric powerhead brush roll On or Off without reaching down to the floorhead.
This is especially useful when transitioning between carpet and smooth hard flooring. The vacuum's suction can remain running while the electric brush roll is switched off.
How the SES117 Connects
The SES117 uses two different electrical connection styles at the ends of the hose.
- Wand End: Direct-connect electrical connection to a compatible electric telescopic wand
- Canister End: Hose connects to the vacuum with a separate short pigtail electrical cord that plugs into the vacuum's powerhead socket
This connection style is an important identifying feature of the SES117.
Common Signs of a Failing Electric Hose
- Electric powerhead will not run
- Powerhead operates intermittently
- Powerhead cuts on and off when the hose is moved
- Brush roll stops when the handle or hose is flexed
- Powerhead On/Off switch no longer operates correctly
- Visible damage to the hose or electrical connections
- Broken or damaged hose handle
- Hose has split and is causing a loss of suction
- Electrical pigtail or connector is damaged
Powerhead Not Running? The Hose May Be the Problem
If your Miele canister still has normal suction but the electric powerhead will not operate, the powerhead itself is not necessarily the problem.
The electrical circuit to the powerhead passes through several components, including the hose, wand, electrical connections, and powerhead. A broken conductor or damaged electrical connection inside the SES117 hose can interrupt power to the floorhead.
An intermittent problem that changes when the hose or handle is moved can be an indication of an electrical connection or conductor problem within the hose.
Check the Entire Electrical System Before Replacing Parts
If an electric powerhead is not operating, inspect the entire electrical path before replacing the hose or powerhead.
- Check the SES117 hose and handle
- Inspect the pigtail electrical connection at the canister
- Inspect the connection between the hose and wand
- Check the SET 220 electric wand and its contacts
- Inspect the connection between the wand and powerhead
- Check the SEB powerhead for mechanical or electrical failure
Proper diagnosis can help avoid replacing a good hose when the actual problem is in the wand, powerhead, or another electrical component.

SES117 Part Number Note
The Miele SES117 has appeared under more than one material number in parts listings and documentation. Older U.S. references commonly identify the SES117 as 7698160 / 07698160, while the current genuine replacement supplied under this listing is 7698161 / 07698161.
Because Miele replacement parts and production versions can change, always verify your vacuum model and the connections on your original hose before ordering.
Electric vs. Non-Electric Miele Hose
Do not confuse the SES117 with a standard non-electric Miele suction hose.
A non-electric hose carries airflow but does not provide electrical power to an SEB motorized floorhead. The SES117 incorporates the electrical connections necessary to supply power through a compatible electric wand to the powerhead.
If your Miele uses an electric SEB carpet powerhead, replacing the SES117 with a non-electric hose will prevent the powerhead motor from operating.
LSV Repair Tip
If your Miele S6000 or Compact C2 has good suction but the electric powerhead cuts in and out, move the hose and handle through their normal range of motion while diagnosing the problem. If the powerhead repeatedly cuts out in a particular hose or handle position, inspect the SES117 and its electrical connections closely.
Also check the contacts where the hose connects to the wand and where the wand connects to the powerhead. Dirty, worn, loose, or damaged contacts can create symptoms similar to an internally damaged hose.
Always unplug the vacuum before disassembling or electrically testing components. Electrical diagnosis and repair should be performed by someone familiar with proper appliance electrical safety procedures.

Why Choose a Genuine Miele Electric Hose?
The electric hose is an important part of both the vacuum's airflow system and the electrical circuit supplying the powerhead. A genuine Miele SES117 is designed to provide the proper mechanical fit, airflow path, electrical connections, and handle controls required by compatible Miele canister vacuums.
