Renew Dull Hardwood Floors
Daily foot traffic can gradually leave hardwood floors looking dull and uneven. Small scratches and scuffs can also become increasingly visible as the original finish ages.
Bona Hardwood Floor Polish adds a protective layer over the existing polyurethane finish while filling in minor micro-scratches and evening out the appearance of the floor.
The Low Gloss formula provides a more subtle sheen than a traditional high-gloss floor polish, making it a great choice when you want your hardwood floors to look refreshed without creating an excessively shiny appearance.
Low Gloss / Matte-Like Appearance
The Bona Low Gloss formula is designed for homeowners who prefer a more natural-looking hardwood floor with a subtle, low-sheen finish.
It may also be described as providing a matte-like or satin appearance compared with Bona's High Gloss Hardwood Floor Polish.
Helps Fill Micro-Scratches & Scuffs
This polish does more than add shine. Bona's formula helps fill in minor micro-scratches and scuffs, which can make an older polyurethane-finished hardwood floor look more uniform.
Important: Floor polish does not repair deep scratches, gouges, worn-through finish or damaged wood. Those conditions may require professional floor repair or refinishing.
Adds a Protective Wear Layer
Bona Hardwood Floor Polish leaves behind a protective layer over the existing floor finish. This helps shield the finished surface from everyday foot traffic and wear while improving its overall appearance.
Periodic polishing can help keep properly finished hardwood floors looking revitalized between more extensive floor maintenance.
32 oz. Covers Approximately 500 Square Feet
One 32 fl. oz. bottle covers approximately 500 square feet of flooring.
For the best appearance, measure your floor before beginning and make sure you have enough product to complete the entire area. Applying too little product or stopping partway through a room can result in an uneven appearance.
Important – This Is NOT a Floor Cleaner
Bona Hardwood Floor Polish is not a hardwood floor cleaner.
The floor should be thoroughly cleaned before applying polish. Dirt, residue and debris left on the floor can become trapped beneath the new polish layer and affect the final appearance.
Use an appropriate Bona hardwood floor cleaner and allow the floor to properly dry before beginning the polishing process.
For Polyurethane-Finished Hardwood Floors
Bona Hardwood Floor Polish Low Gloss is designed for:
- Unwaxed hardwood floors
- Unoiled hardwood floors
- Polyurethane-finished wood floors
Do not use this product on unfinished or unsealed wood flooring. Bona does not recommend its floor polish for unsealed flooring because staining may occur.
Always Perform a Test Area First
Before polishing the entire floor, Bona recommends applying the product to a small test area and evaluating the results before proceeding.
This is particularly important if you are unsure which products have previously been used on the floor or are uncertain about the type of finish.
How to Apply Bona Hardwood Floor Polish
- Measure the floor area to determine how much polish will be required.
- Remove furniture, rugs and loose items from the area.
- Vacuum, sweep or dust mop the floor to remove loose debris.
- Thoroughly clean the floor with an appropriate Bona hardwood floor cleaner.
- Allow the floor to dry.
- Perform a small test area before treating the entire floor.
- Gently rock the polish bottle back and forth before application.
- Pour the polish directly onto the floor in a manageable area.
- Spread the polish evenly with a dedicated Bona Microfiber Cleaning Pad, working with the grain of the wood.
- Continue across the floor while maintaining an even application.
Drying & Cure Time
Drying time can vary depending on temperature and humidity. Bona advises allowing approximately 1 to 2 hours before walking on the floor in stocking feet.
Allow approximately 24 hours for the polish to fully cure before replacing furniture, allowing pets onto the floor or exposing the surface to heavy traffic.
How Often Should You Polish Hardwood Floors?
Bona recommends periodic use based on the amount of traffic the floor receives. Avoid unnecessarily applying repeated layers of polish.
Always follow the current Bona application and maintenance instructions for your floor and allow the existing polish to wear appropriately before applying additional coats.
GREENGUARD Certified
Bona Hardwood Floor Polish is GREENGUARD Certified for low chemical emissions into indoor air during product use.
LSV Floor Care Tip
Preparation is one of the most important parts of getting good results with floor polish. Vacuum the floor thoroughly and make sure it is completely clean before applying polish.
Also use a microfiber pad dedicated specifically to polish application. Cleaner residue, dirt or old products remaining on the floor or application pad can affect how evenly the new polish dries.
Most importantly, make sure your floor is actually compatible with polish. Do not apply this product to unfinished, waxed or oiled wood flooring.
Important – Polish Is Not the Same as Refinishing
Bona Hardwood Floor Polish is intended to renew and protect an existing compatible floor finish. It is not a replacement for sanding and refinishing when a hardwood floor has deep scratches, exposed wood, severe finish damage or extensive wear.
For heavily damaged floors, consult a professional hardwood flooring specialist before applying additional coatings.
